About the event

Join us for a wine tasting with Nadine Maruszczak of Babylonstoren Winery.  Nadine has 10+ years of experience in the food & beverage industry, growing and managing many beverage brands, including the wines and pantry products from Babylonstoren, a farm, hotel, and vineyard located in the Western Cape of South Africa. Nadine loves learning about wine and food through hands-on experience, whether that's in her own garden or working in vineyards and farms. She pursued and passed the WSET Level 2 in Wines with distinction because she enjoys educating about wine and making the topic more approachable. She looks forward to meeting you.

Babylonstoren is a renowned farm and vineyard located in the Cape Winelands region of South Africa. It is situated in the Drakenstein Valley, near the town of Paarl, approximately 60 kilometers northeast of Cape Town. Babylonstoren is not only a working farm but also a luxurious destination that offers visitors a unique and immersive experience.

The farm dates back to 1692 and has a rich history. It was originally established by the Dutch East India Company as a refreshment station for ships passing the Cape of Good Hope. Today, Babylonstoren has been meticulously restored, blending its historic charm with modern amenities.

One of the highlights of Babylonstoren is its extensive gardens, which cover an impressive 8 acres. Inspired by the historical Company's Garden in Cape Town, these meticulously laid-out gardens are divided into different sections, each dedicated to a specific type of plant. Visitors can explore the fruit and vegetable gardens, fragrant herb gardens, and ornamental sections, all beautifully arranged and designed to showcase the diverse flora of the Cape. The farm is also home to vineyards, where a variety of grapes are cultivated, including Chardonnay, Viognier, Mourvèdre, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Babylonstoren produces its own wines, which have gained international recognition for their quality and distinct flavors. Wine lovers can enjoy tastings, guided tours of the vineyards, and even participate in the winemaking process during the harvest season.

Overall, Babylonstoren is a captivating destination that combines history, natural beauty, and a deep connection to the land. It offers visitors a chance to immerse themselves in the Cape Winelands' culture, indulge in exquisite wines, explore stunning gardens, and experience the tranquility and charm of a working farm in one of South Africa's most picturesque regions.
