When deciding what to offer at the general store last summer we kept it simple, picked a few things we thought we could do well and made it a summer of listening and learning. There's something to be said for taking things slow. It can be tempting to try to do everything and please everyone. We tend to lean toward picking three things and doing them well. After a season of listening, it reassured us that directionally, the general store is a place for the community to gather and having something for everyone can be accomplished while still keeping things simple.
That said, this summer we have it all.
Art. Wine. Food. Music. Parades. Book Signings.

The image here is an original oil by fine artist Larissa Flynn titled Hazy Horton Bay. Painted on site at the Croft Artist Residency overlooking Lake Charlevoix, a stones throw from storied "downtown" Horton Bay, MI. We are thrilled to have Larissa as part of the summer series. You and she will soon know how much her art played a part in our big ole crush on Northern Michigan. @lflynnfineart
